In a unique initiative to address the concerns of HAZARDOUS MATERIALS, and  prior to the passage of Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA Title III), the Delaware County Council, along with Delaware County Industry and Emergency Responders created the Delaware County Hazardous Materials Advisory Council, which has since evolved into the Delaware County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC).

Members of the LEPC include:

• State, Local, and County Officials
• Industry Representatives
• The Emergency Response Community
• Private Citizens

To be prepared for a Hazardous Material Incident in Delaware County, the LEPC coordinates with Local and Community Officials, First Responders and Industrial Representatives, for the purpose of developing a detailed Emergency Plan designed to ensure the safety of those living, working. or visiting Delaware County.
